A FINE STAY IN LONDON

ROSEWOOD LONDON

Rosewood London

Grand and gracious, Rosewood London is one of the capital’s finest hotels—an idyllic urban sanctuary where the hum of the city slips away, replaced by an atmosphere of quiet sophistication and unsurpassed luxury.

We stayed at the Rosewood hotel recently and the stay was incredible from the attention to detail from the front of house team and the elegant entrance to a fabulous hotel which is situated steps away from Covent Garden in the heart of Holborn close the tube station making is very easy to explore London.

We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a split level Junior Suite (Virtuoso amenity) with views of the courtyard and ample working space if you need to catch up on emails – the hotel offers free wifi. The room also featured an  Italian marble bathroom with a bath tub, separate walk-in shower and Votary amenities. A 46-inch TV,  Nespresso machine, Geneva sound-system with iPhone dock, Air conditioning, Digital newspaper app and Bathrobes and slippers

The dining experience was excellent with a great breakfast in the Mirror Room and evening meal in the Holbron Restaurant. Both offered a great ambience and very attentive waiting staff..

After dinner we headed to the Scarfes Bar. Renowned British artist and caricaturist, Gerald Scarfe, has lent both his name and artistic vision to Scarfes Bar. Gerald’s own collection of amusing and conversation-provoking paintings, highlighting his best work, adorn the marble walls, transforming Scarfes Bar into a living canvas, described by Gerald as “my personal art gallery, where you can see my life on these walls”. There are many caricatures of famous people including the King!

There is live jazz music on offer most nights offering a  fun atmosphere in the bar and a wide range of cocktails on offer too!

The Rosewood is also a Virtuoso Hotel offering many benefits  and complimentary extras including:

MONKEY ISLAND ESTATE - an alternate to a Heathrow Airport Hotel

Monkey Island Estate

Monkey Island Estate lies on a picturesque island in the river Thames in the historic village of Bray, Berkshire. The island has a rich history century old, and has been the haunt of monarchs, aristocrats and artists, along with writers, famous performers and Berkshire locals. It is now home to one of the finest hotels in Bray.

The two grade I listed heritage pavilions which form the property were originally commissioned as a fishing retreat in 1723 by the third Duke of Marlborough. These have been completely restored and renovated, with beautifully landscaped gardens and picturesque views of the River Thames.

Set across seven acres, Monkey Island Estate features 40 exquisite guest rooms, and the Grade 1 listed Wedgewood Suite, designed by the award-winning New York-based Champalimaud Design.

The furnishings juxtapose timeless glamour and traditional features with a modern, countryside style, creating a unique blend of past and present. It's the perfect base from which to explore the area or just immerse yourself in history against the backdrop of the delightful village of Bray.

The location is approx. 20 minutes drive away from London Heathrow Airport and offers an amazing alternate experience to a traditional airport hotel.

The hotel offers a wonderful restaurant with Classic French doors leading out to the picturesque terrace for outdoor dining whilst admiring the idyllic views of the river. Also featured is a the  Monkey Bar with comfortable seating and a wide range of drinks on offer -a really relaxing ambience.

We stayed in a Temple Terrace Room featuring a queen size bed with the fixtures and fittings at a high standard. The rooms benefit from either a terrace or balcony with seating, directly facing the river Thames, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquil island surroundings.

There is a footbridge allowing you to join the Thames River path walk. A 5km beautiful and scenic walk will have you arrive in Windsor where you can spend a wonderful afternoon exploring.
