MADRID

Finally arrived in Madrid after a long layover in Hong Kong Airport due to the flight schedules.
I had planned to do some exploring whilst there but felt it was better to stay put in the airport lounge with all the protesting that has been going on. Cathay Pacific – Premium Economy class was very comfortable and I enjoyed the flights to Spain.

Taxi from Madrid Airport to the city centre is a set EUR30.00 (Approx AUD $50.00)

My first full day in Madrid saw me walking over 20,000 steps!!!
A visit to Museo del Prado was a fantastic highlight for me – this 200 year old museum houses more than 8000 paintings!! Including:
• Garden of Earthly Delights 1495 - Hieronymus Bosch
• Decent from the Cross pre 1443 - Rogier van der Weyden
• Las Meninas - Diego Velázquez

During my full day self walking tour I found the Main Square in Madrid – Plaza Mayor. Lots of nice but expensive restaurants for lunch!!

SEGOVIA & TOLEDO

Full day group tour (Yes!! Group Tour) to Segovia and Toledo.
It was worth the pain of having to travel and wait for another 43 people to hear the history and culture stories from the tour guide.
SEGOVIA – Cathedral and Aqueduct (Built by the Romans in approx A.D. 50)
TOLEDO -“City of the Three Cultures" for the cultural influences of Christians, Muslims and Jews reflected in its history.

MADRID

My last day in Madrid and I am sad to say goodbye. I have loved my time in this beautiful city!!

Another full day of walking to make sure I haven’t missed out on any major sites and to take in the atmosphere of the Capital of Spain.

I spent the last night at A Flamenco Show…..a dancing dual and so exciting!!! Especially with a front row seat!
A great way to say goodbye to Madrid!
